After two decades of providing hair coloring and styling services I decided to open Eastern Long Island Cranial Prosthetics. I found many clients through the years going through health issues or medical treatments that required them to purchase a cranial prosthetic. There were no local options and the online shops were full of confusing photos and descriptions leading to many returns and poor quality purchases. Most would travel to the city and find themselves unhappy with the quality, texture, density, style and/or color. They would bring the hair to me for color, cut and style alterations.
Hair that was altered at the place of purchase would be cut or colored so horribly that I decided to do some research. I found most Cranial Prosthesis providers were not licensed cosmetologists. They had no knowledge of hair growth, patterns, cutting techniques nor basic color theory. These very expensive pieces were being ruined by nothing more than a salesperson! to them, each Cranial Prosthetic was simply a product. An item to sell for commission, not an extension of the person underneath. To me, each cranial prosthetic should represent YOU. Your Style. Your personality. Your normal. You.
In transition from altering pieces for so many, I decided to start supplying the hair systems to my clients directly. This guaranteed we would have the correct prosthesis without the back and forth. With many styles, lengths, textures and colors on hand, a proper fitting cranial prosthetic will be immediately available for most that visit. A licensed cosmetologist will always work with you to style, shape, color and fit your new hair. we will work together to ensure you’re comfortable wearing and informed how to care for your new prosthetic. Corey McCutcheon is a licensed and registered cranial prosthesis specialist and hairstylist. He is licensed and registered to practice in New York State as well as Florida. During his 20 plus years in the business he has colored and styled a large percentage of the Hamptons, Manhattan and Florida. He has traveled the country and globe to work on celebrities, members of many royal families, politicians, industry leaders and those who appreciate natural, healthy, organic looks. His work has been seen in movies, tv shows and periodicals from the local newspaper to the cover of vogue. His client list remains private as his dedication to those he services, men and women, is paramount.
